Feature: sakevisual

Sakevisual is a group founded by Ayu Sakata ( aka sake-bento) that makes visual novels.

Visual Novels? OMGWTFBBQ I DUNNO WHAT THE FOOK THAT IS!

For those that are new to the term, a visual novel is an interactive fiction game that you can play on your PC. The story/narrative is written in text but unlike novels in book form, VNs are enhanced with images (usually anime-styled), background music, occasional live-action stills, and voices. As the story progresses, you are prompted to make certain choices that can affect the ending of the story. VNs have multiple outcomes that range from the cliched happy endings to the unconventional-oh-god-what-the-hell-is-this-shit endings.

Mindfuckery, thus, is an occasional effect after playing.

Right. Back to sakevisual.

The group has made a few free (YES, FREE. AS IN, FRUSTRATED COLLEGE STUDENTS LIKE MYSELF DON’T HAVE TO SHELL OUT CASH FOR THIS) games that fall under different genres:

However, titles that fall under the group’s Green Tea Line (Jisei and its newly released sequel, Kansei) are not.

You can download the games and play some of the demos right here.

So far, I have played RE: Alistair++, [text], and (my personal favorite) Ripples.

Have a screenie:

Ripples is the shortest –only lasting for about 10 minutes, but it also has the most touching storyline of all the games I have played so far. Normally, I tend to lash out at cheese-infused optimism but this story gives me a really good feeling. :3

Happy playing!

  1. I was supposed to spend my one month break studying for my January exams, but Reki-nee, you’re tempting me to download and play all these sakevisual!
